I still know the station from a time when trains ran. A tour over the Kreuzberg to Bischofsheim and back by train from there. Unfortunately all nostalgia.

The old train station in Wildflecken is still very well preserved. The picture shows the area next to the old train station. Today the former railway line has been developed as a railway cycle path and bears the name RHÖNEXPRESS - Railway Cycle Path.

The Rhönexpress Bahn-Radweg has been completely new since 2019 and is a special experience. The approx. 26 km long route runs from the Hessian border near Zeitlofs to the Wildflecken market on the former route of a railway line. This ensures an even and very moderate incline over the entire route. This also makes the train cycle path an ideal destination for family outings. And for touring cyclists, the section is part of the path “From the Main to the Rhön” and is therefore connected to an extensive network of long-distance trails.

Along the route you will find suitable parking facilities in the neighboring villages for easy access when arriving by car.
