The Prinz-Max-Palais is a Wilhelminian-style villa, initially called Palais Schmieder. After the palace had changed ownership and function several times, in 1981 the Prinz-Max-Palais moved into a municipal cultural center with the Stadtmuseum Karlsruhe, the youth library of the Stadtbibliothek Karlsruhe, the Museum of Literature on the Upper Rhine and the seat of the Literary Society Karlsruhe , There is also a small cinema and a nice cafe with a very nice courtyard.
