The area north and east of the Harrasfelsen belonged to the Sachsenburg district and the lordship of Frankenberg. Between the villages of Gunnersdorf and Altenhain there was an electoral or royal forest, which was provided with boundary stones when it was cleared in the 1780s and 1790s. Surviving cadastral maps from around 1839 show (unclearly legible) boundary stone numbers, which probably do not correspond to the numbering of the preserved stones. Accordingly, such boundary stones were placed at relatively short intervals.
