The city museum, often still called "Göhre" in Jena, is located in a late Gothic building on the north side of the market. The name goes back to Paul Göhre, who bought the house in 1883 and ran a wine shop and a wine restaurant here. Since 1988, exhibitions on Jena's city history have been shown in the old part of the "Göhre". With its valuable holdings on regional history, it is a place for the city's society to come to terms with itself, enriching this discourse, especially with historical aspects.
