Mastov Forest, covering approximately 10.5 hectares, is located within the Tresvyatskoye Forestry. It consists of pine stands grown from local and West German seeds.
This natural monument represents the oldest Scots pine stands, approximately 150 years old, within the Usman Forest. They were created by planting wildings taken from the local forest. The trees are tall, with broad crowns. The young growth includes Norway maple and silver birch, while the undergrowth includes elm and rowan. Stinging nettle is found in the living ground cover. The trees are randomly distributed. The forest is in good condition.
Mastov Forest received its name from the centuries-old pines and oaks growing in the area, which Peter the Great used to build ships. This contributed to the founding of the first shipyard in Voronezh and the city's transformation into the "cradle of the Russian Navy." This wood served as the main material for creating masts.
