    A hike from Schloss Burg, via the Diederich temple to the dam wall, is very easy to do and there is a lot to see. The hike can be extended by simply doing another lap around the dam itself.

      The Sengbachtalsperre is a drinking water dam in Solingen. It lies in a secluded side valley of the Wupper not far from Burg Castle, between the Solingen locations of Höhrath and Glüder. The water reservoir located between forests supplies the residents of the city of Solingen with drinking water. For this reason, the building is usually just called "Solingen Dam" in the vernacular. At times it was also referred to as the "Senkbach dam".

        "... The Sengbachtalsperre is not far from Burg Castle in a secluded side valley of the Wupper, surrounded by dense forests. It was built in 1903 and is one of the oldest drinking water reservoirs in Germany. To this day, it supplies the people who live in Solingen Drinking water.

        The dam wall is 43 meters high, 36 meters at the bottom and five meters thick at the top. The top of the wall is 178 meters long, a footpath leads over it.

        A circular route of about ten kilometers leads around the reservoir, which is between 100 and 180 meters wide, around two and a half kilometers long and up to 36 meters deep. The path through the low mountain range landscape with its mountain ranges and stream valleys always opens up beautiful views of the water. ..."
