The Klopfsteinmühle was built in the 19th century for the processing of mined in surrounding quarries basalt in the forest on Beselicher head. Before the Second World War, the operation was discontinued. The ruin is still clearly visible.

From the Klopfsteinmühle Beselicher Kopf, the crushed basalt rock was transported by the 1000 mm narrow-gauge railway 6 km away and with a hairpin bend to the Kerkerbachbahn with the Eschenau junction.
The junction was closed in 1919 and the crusher in 1921.
