Really a beautiful sight, but an MTB highlight? Even though you have to drive on the road here? When I think about how often I have already enjoyed the view of the old town on one side of the bridge and the moat on the other and also stopped one or the other time for a photo, probably.
Afterwards you can drive straight back to the Stadtgraben or Trave, through ramparts or Malerwinkel "off-road". From the latter one has a better perspective of the "medieval backdrop".

Lübeck's old town reminds me a bit of my hometown Bamberg. Medieval beautiful, no matter what time of year. It always looks great and I enjoy exploring the narrow streets.

I've been to Lübeck quite a few times (mostly hiking) and was a bit surprised to suddenly find this new highlight. I also agree with the slightly negative criticism, but I have to admit that you can take beautiful photos of the church towers and house facades of Lübeck's old town from here, in the evening sun.
