As you approach the summit ridge of Roche Miette, the incline steepens significantly and the path transitions into a scramble zone with loose rock, scree and exposure. Many hikers report sections where they needed to use both hands for balance and occasionally duck from falling stones kicked loose by others. Flagging tape is minimal in the upper terrain—navigation becomes less obvious. Be prepared with good hiking shoes, poles, maybe a helmet, and a clear plan for descent before committing to the top section of this route. The maximum incline for this trail reaches an astonishing 70%.
