In the late 1950s, at the initiative of Alexey Alexeyevich, an artificial (man-made) hill for alpine skiing enthusiasts was created near Dubna. Viktor Mikhailovich Lavrov designed the hill. Dump trucks hauled sand to the site of a surveying post marking the highest point in the Dubna area. The man-made hill for sledding and skiing received its popular name during its creator's lifetime and has retained it. It's an incredibly beautiful place; I definitely recommend visiting.
