Le Mont-Saint-Michel is a French commune with 30 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2018) in the Manche department in the Normandy region. The municipality consists of the rocky island of Mont Saint-Michel in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel in the Wadden Sea of Normandy and parts of the mainland. The island is about one kilometer from the coast and is only about 55,000 m² in size (circumference about 830 meters), the municipal area totals 4 km²[1]. Nearby are the mouth of the Couesnon, the town of Avranches and the border with Brittany. The landscape is called Avranchin.
