The small houses were formerly inhabited by the peasants, today they are usually empty and can be visited as a sight on Madeira. Typical of these houses are the triangular shape and the colors, which are mostly red and blue. The thick thatched roofs provide a very good protection against thunderstorms.

Good parking and beautiful scenery. As always: be there early, otherwise it will be tight. From the beginning it goes along a levada.

This is a good place to start the tour if you don't mind the extra kilometers.
There are plenty of free parking spaces here, whereas in Queimadas you have to pay for parking, although not much.
