On the side of the causeway a carved stone commemorates Peter Larbalestier, the assistant lighthouse keeper, who drowned trying to rescue a visitor who had been cut off by the tide on 28 May 1946.

The La Corbière Lighthouse is one of the most important landmarks on the Channel Island of Jersey. It is located on a tidal island off the coast and belongs to the parish of St. Brélade. It was named after the surrounding rocky and sparsely populated coastal landscape of La Corbière.

The rock on which the "Corbière Lighthouse" was built in 1873, is flooded at high tide. At low tide you can reach the lighthouse on foot.
Visitors are advised to inform themselves about ebb and flood times. Twice a day, Jersey's land mass increases by 40%; the water falls or rises by up to 7 cm per minute. Tide plans can be found here:
