The theater, built on a slope west of the city level, features an underground stage and orchestra. The cavea (audience seating) was uncovered during the museum's rescue excavation. The theater currently seats 1,000 spectators.
Some say this is the smallest ancient theater in Anatolia, which would be completely incorrect as the smallest ancient theater in the world is actually located in ancient Lycian Simena in the Kekova region of Antalya. The theater there is actually located inside the Medieval Simena Castle, seating only 300 people.
