The falls descend in three distinct tiers, tumbling over slate and shale bedrock that you can easily walk on when the water is low. The lowest and largest tier is a powerful chute that plunges into a deep, clear pool.
The trail has a few minor challenges (steep sections). It also literally goes over hill and dale, and the path is sometimes difficult to spot, but there are markings on the trees. You have to be careful, though, as they are sometimes quite faded. Sturdy shoes and hiking poles are recommended.
