These historic gardens were established in 1890 during the colonial period and originally served as part of a sanatorium to combat malaria. They played a pivotal role in introducing cocoa cultivation to southern Ghana by providing seedlings and scientific information. Today, the gardens span 64.8 hectares and are home to an impressive collection of native and exotic plant species.
