There are several "bears" in the Grafenau spa park, notably the bear sculpture in the "Bärena" area by the artist Heinz Theuerjahr, as well as the "Börsenbär" (Stock Exchange Bear), which stands in the BÄREAL area of the park. Grafenau is known as the "Bear Town" because the bear is the heraldic animal, and the bear theme runs through the entire spa adventure park, which is also the starting point of the Bear Trail, which leads to the real bears in the national park's outdoor animal enclosure.
