dr Ironbeard
Johann Andreas Eisenbart was born on March 27th, 1663 in Oberviechtach. He died on November 11th. 1727 in Hann. mouths. He was a doctor who achieved great fame nationwide through his healing successes as a "star engraver" and "surgeon doctor". Friedrich Wilhelm I appointed him court councilor and court ophthalmologist because of his ophthalmological services.
The differing spelling should only be noted: The city of Hann. Münden uses the spelling on the tombstone at the former Aegidienkirche. Others, e.g. the town of birth in the Upper Palatinate, uses the spelling "Eisenbarth". This chose Dr. Eisenbart personally in his will.
Many tourist attractions e.g. the Dr. Eisenbart games, the tomb at the former Aegidienkirche, the Doktorwerder, the statue at the death house demolished in 1895, the carillon at the town hall or guided tours of the city by the "Doctor personally" characterize the cityscape today.
Tourists can also find out about the interesting life story with "new" media. In addition to a 50-minute film on DVD, there is also a mobile phone app.
More information about dr. Eisenbart is available on the Internet or from the tourist information center in the city of Hann. mouths.
The city of Hann. Münden honored the traveling doctor in 2013 by renaming the town hall forecourt to "Johann-Andreas-Eisenbart-Platz".
Furthermore, on the occasion of the 350th birthday, six figures were procured with the help of sponsors (private individuals and local companies).
Five of these figures are located at the entrance to Hann. mouths. A sixth is set up in the urban area.
