Located at 2120 Third Avenue North, the Cathedral of Saint Paul is one of Birmingham's most distinctive religious buildings. This Gothic Revival cathedral was completed in 1893 and designed by German architect Adolphus Druiding, known for his work with Catholic churches in the United States.
The church began as a parish in 1872, just one year after the city of Birmingham was incorporated. The current building, constructed of red brick, limestone, and a polychrome slate roof, features two towers reaching 183 feet (55 meters).
