Rhine gone? All gone! This is how the people of Cologne thought at the end of the 14th century, when “their” river was about to look for a new path behind Deutz. They strengthened the bank - and thus created a “prerequisite for a port to be built in Rheinau”. Officially opened on May 1, 1898, later only a sports port and marina remained. Today the flagship quarter includes the three crane houses as well as a number of historical buildings that are under monument protection and have been newly used: from Silo 23 to the “Siebengebirge” to the Rheinkontor, power house and port authority.

The Rheinauhafen has only recently become a very attractive promenade with the construction of the three crane houses and the renovation of the Siebengebirge (old stacking houses).
It stretches from the Chocolate Museum to the Bayenturm. You can dine here from good to exquisite or just idle away the day with a coffee or one or the other Kölsch.
