Splitter boxes protected the aircraft from air raids. During the park's construction, remnants of such a splitter box surfaced.
These historical remains were incorporated into the park's design. The Flemish Land Agency (VLM) built a meticulous reconstruction, perhaps the first of its kind in Flanders. The concrete layer for the reconstruction, constructed by the German occupiers, was left intact. Thus, the past remains tangible and visible in the park.

This reconstruction depicts a fragment of a splitter box. A high, wide rampart protected the aircraft from flying debris during bomb impacts. During the construction of Oyenbrug Park, a concrete slab from such a box was recovered, making this piece of heritage visible again.
