Next to the Kühroint hut, on the gentle side of the Watzmann, there is a small chapel. It is dedicated to the mountain victims in and from the Berchtesgadener Land. Built by volunteers and supported by numerous material donations, the chapel was inaugurated in 1999 as the "Mountaineer Memorial Chapel St. Bernhard". The many names engraved on brass plaques inside the church admonish all hikers and mountaineers to be on the mountain with care and caution.

Immediately next to the Kührointhütte is the small mountain sacrifice chapel St. Bernhard. It commemorates the more than 1000 well-known mountain hikers and mountaineers who died in the Berchtesgaden Alps.
