Here the uprisings began in the Stolpianskaya volost. On November 6, a crowd of peasants from the village of Meleshino came to the volost center. They approached the building of the Stolptsy village council. On November 6, the rebels brutally dealt with the head of the volost food detachment, Predtechinsky, a front-line soldier who was trying to escape from Stolptsy. After Predtechinsky was caught, beaten and brought to the village, the peasant Krayushkin hit him on the head with a stone, and officer Drozdov from the village of Munyakovo hacked him to death with a saber. Rumors began to spread quickly that Soviet power was experiencing its last hours, that in many cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, it had already been overthrown.
