The 11km long circular route begins in Wilhelmshall, which is located in a geological fault zone.

In the past, it was very easy to explore and use a salt deposit here.

The Wilhelmshall shaft (geological point 1) was created on the basis of several research boreholes (e.g. geopoint 8, Hope Valley).

The circular route runs through the entire geological profile of the Huy, starting with the basal Zechstein layers encountered in boreholes and shafts, through sediments of the Bundsandstein to the uppermost sediment layers of the upper shell limestone.

The path touches numerous geological points worth seeing, such as the glacier pots (geological point 6) or stromatolites (geological point 7) that were created during the Ice Age and can still be admired recently on the northeast coast of Australia, for example.

At the geological points there is the possibility to find out more about the geology of the Huys on an information website (accessible via QR code).
