The lighthouse was built in 1910/1911 and was originally located 6 km north of Bremerhaven on the Wurster Watt. From 1911 - 1922 it served as a guiding light for the fairway in the Wurster Arm, 1922 - 1959 as a cross mark light for the transition from the Bremerhaven to the Reedebaken light line as a result of the relocation of the fairway from the Wurster Arm to the Fedderwarder Arm and 1959 - 1980 as a lower light on the leading light line Weddewarden for the Fedderward fairway. Due to the expansion of the Bremerhaven container terminal to the north, this lighthouse had to be abandoned. On August 19, 1980, the entire tower was moved to the Nordsee-Yachting marina using the “Thor” floating crane. There it has served as the marina's landmark and cozy pub for over 25 years.
