The most important native of Hukvaldy, the genius of Czech music, composer Leoš Janáček, was born in the building of the former school on July 3, 1854. Currently, the building houses a tourist information center, the Leoš Janáček Memorial Hall, and the Land of Castles gallery and exhibition.
A commemorative plaque with a bronze bust of Leoš Janáček by sculptor Augustin Handzel is located on the facade of the building.
