A beautiful stage of the "Rheinsteig" with many great views of the Rhine, the vineyards, the villages...
But be careful when climbing from Lorch to the "Nollig Ruin". Here it goes up very steeply on rocky ground and although the ascent (or descent, if you walk the route from Kaub) is partially secured with steel cables and iron steps, I would only walk this when it is dry and not in the rain.

The way back Kaub - Lorchhausen - Lorch leads unspectacular on the sidewalk a busy, noisy highway. All three locations are connected by a regional train line. That's a real alternative.

Kaub am Rhein is one of most spectacular places during one is hiking Rhien Steig. This small and very old town is worth to visit (even spend the night) and take a rest before one is going to complete "King etape" (Kaub-St. Goarshausen).

There are many options to hike this Stage of Rheinsteig. Should you have time - try to use one through Sauerburg. Actually - it is possible to book accommodations there.
