The Church of Shen Thanas in Karavasta, a significant site on the spiritual journey of Fier County, is a rich treasure of Albanian art and culture. Built in 1778, it is distinguished by the exquisite frescoes painted in 1979 by the Grabovari brothers, Gjergj and Joan Katro.
The church's frescoes are a testament to the talent of the Çetiri brothers. The ceiling is decorated with pinewood, elaborately primed, and adorned with floral motifs. Following in the footsteps of predecessors such as Konstandin and Athanas Zografi, they combine Orthodox themes with stylistic elements from Mount Athos.
A highlight is the depiction of the Virgin Mary in the conch dome of the apse, which is presented with great attention to detail and artistic expression. These frescoes not only enrich Albania's cultural and artistic heritage but also enhance Fier's tourist appeal and contribute to cultural tourism as a whole.
