This junction leads to a short one-mile trek along a beautiful natural stone wall, eventually ending at the Chancel Trailhead, which has a small parking area on Hurricane Trail. Along the way, there is a great spot to camp along Hurricane Creek with a fantastic stone fire ring. If you're heading eastbound on the OHT, this short detour can be a good option to reach the outside world if you need to resupply; however, it is important to note that before reaching the trailhead, you'll need to ford Buck Branch, and it is only a good idea if the water is not too high.
