      The Elisenthal powder mill was the largest plant for the production of black powder in the Rhineland. The ruins of the historic black powder mill are in Windeck in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia. It reached about 1.2 kilometers from the Dattenfeld district into the Nutscheid.

                  A highlight in the quiet brook valleys of the Trim and Engbach is the mysterious-looking ruins of the former powder mills in the Elisental. Easily visible from the hiking trail, the former company premises - so decentralized for security reasons - stretch more than a kilometer along the Trimbach valley. In addition to the ruins of the production and functional buildings, the trace of a historic horse-drawn tram is also clearly visible. Information stations provide information about the dangerous production and working conditions of black powder production.

                    The Elisenthal powder mill was the largest black powder production facility in the Rhineland. The ruins of the black powder mill are located in Windeck in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia. They extend from the Dattenfeld district about 1.2 kilometers into the Nutscheid. The plant belonged to one of the numerous powder mills in the Bergisches Land, which offered good conditions for the production of black powder due to the silt trees growing here.
