The Mahoney Lake Ecological Reserve was established to protect a southern inland salt lake with unique limnological characteristics.
Ecological reserves protect special natural ecosystems and support research and education. They are not intended for outdoor recreation. However, this ecological reserve is open to the public for non-destructive activities such as hiking, nature observation, and photography.
Consumptive activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, or gathering food are prohibited. Motorized vehicles are not permitted.
