The lodge is located just below Tojzlov vrh (703 m), on its southern slope. The two-story lodge was built in 1956 at the initiative of the Craft Purchasing and Sales Cooperative, or PD Obrtnik, which was later renamed PD Kozjak. The land was donated by the landowner Šorijeva. The lodge was opened on May 1, 1961. Due to problems with the management of the lodge, PD Kozjak, with the consent of the Main Board of the Slovenian Association of Mountaineering and Hiking Associations, transferred the lodge to the ownership of the Maribor Association of Independent Craftsmen free of charge on May 26, 1988, while retaining the character of a mountain outpost. The lodge was in poor condition, so it was closed after it was taken over. In the fall of 1990, the Association of Independent Craftsmen made the most urgent repairs so that the lodge could reopen. The interior of the lodge is being gradually renovated and the living conditions are improving.
