At 1,364 meters high, the Puig de Massanella is the second highest peak in the Tramuntana mountains. Since the peak of Puig Mayor is a restricted military area, Massanella is also the highest publicly accessible point on the island. When the weather is good, from up here you have an absolutely spectacular view over the peaks and valleys of the mountains, over the extensive plain with its cities and the south, north and west coast.

Massanella is one of the island's most popular hiking destinations.
Even on the normal route via Finca Coma Freda, you should be reasonably fit.
A little sense of direction or a good battery/power bank can't hurt for the final climb. Sturdy footwear is also beneficial.
Those who are nervous or prone to vertigo might feel a little queasy near the summit, as a deep ravine gapes right near the summit.
You don't necessarily have to climb all the way up to get a beautiful view, but it's worth it.
Not recommended for inexperienced hikers in rain, snow, or fog.

Locals tell the following story:
The devil once wanted to conquer Mallorca's highest peak. One dark night, he climbed Massanella to establish his throne there. When the sun rose in the morning, it blinded him so brightly that he fell and cursed, falling from the mountain. His impact is said to have created the rugged karst landscape of the Pla de sa Neu.
Since then, the saying has been: "Stay away from Massanella at dusk."
Apparently, the devil didn't know that Puig de Major was higher 😁.

The direct ascent from the Col des Prat leads to the left of the stone wall and before the rock, cross the stone wall to the right! Then up the gully and keep to the right of the turf. Before it then comes to a gap to the final climb. Technical climbing at this point 2+, not feasible for inexperienced people without support at this point.
