Heidi Kabel, unforgettable Hamburg folk actress. The square was named after her and a bronze statue stands to the left at the entrance to the "Ohnsorg Theater". at the current location of the theatre.

On September 4, 2011, the Heidi Kabel memorial, a life-size bronze figure created by the artist Inka Uzoma, was inaugurated with a ceremony on Hachmannplatz. At the same time, part of the square in front of the Ohnsorg-Theater's new venue was renamed Heidi-Kabel-Platz, which means that the Ohnsorg-Theater now has the address Heidi-Kabel-Platz 1. On the occasion of her 100th birthday, the NDR commemorated celebrities like Ina Müller or Hella von Sinnen with a 45-minute program on NDR television.
She died of old age at the age of 95. The funeral service in the St. Michaelis Church in Hamburg was broadcast on NDR. Heidi Kabel was buried next to her husband in the Nienstedten Cemetery in Hamburg. The tombstone bears the Low German inscription "To't Leben Hör de Dood" (German: "To life belongs death").
