The ancient village of Chia, an important Phoenician and later Roman center known as Bithia, occupied a small inlet where one of the numerous coastal towers built by the Spanish crown to defend against the incursions of Barbary corsairs now stands.

From the golden shores of Sa Colonia beach, a path winds up to the Chia tower, an imposing relic of the late 16th century. Its massive walls tell stories of days gone by when it served as a watchtower and defense to monitor these coasts.

From its position there are breathtaking views of Capo Spartivento and the nearby Su Portu beach.

A short walk leads from the Spiaggia di Sa Colonia to the Torre di Chia. Unfortunately, you cannot climb the tower itself. The way is worth it anyway. From here you have a great view of the Capo Spartivento and the Spiaggia di Su Portu.

From the golden shores of the Spiaggia di Sa Colonia, a path winds up to the Torre di Chia, an impressive 16th-century relic. Although the tower itself cannot be accessed, a trip here is an absolute must for anyone traveling in this region of Sardinia.

The Torre di Chia, once part of an impressive network of 102 Saracen towers, stood here as a silent witness and protection against pirate attacks from the Barbary States. Its massive walls tell stories of bygone days when it served as a watchtower and defense tower to monitor the coasts of Sardinia.

From its location there are breathtaking views of Capo Spartivento and the neighboring Spiaggia di Su Portu. The waves gently break on the shorelines, creating a picturesque contrast to the historic stone structures of the tower.
