Bear Creek is a picturesque drainage that flows through the vast valley of prairie grasses and eroded clay hills. This crossing is usually dry or shallow, but it signifies a subtle change in the ecosystem—keep an eye out for mule deer and prairie dogs often seen here in the open basin. There is also a waterbox here that is one of the designated cache points along the Maah Daah Hey Trail, maintained by the MDTA to support long-distance hikers, bikers, and riders passing through this area.
