From the Andreas Maurer Bridge near Bad Deutsch-Altenburg, an impressive panorama opens up downstream. Below you stretches the Danube, broad and powerful, lined with floodplain forests and meadows that reach right down to the water. The view sweeps eastward toward Slovakia. The landscape here appears vast and pristine, alternating between green riverbanks and the gentle hills of the Marchfeld. Especially at sunrise or sunset, an atmospheric scene emerges, reinforcing the impression that the Danube connects entire countries and cultures.
