In the winter of 1949/50, the Oberstdorf ski flying hill was built in the Stillach Valley, based on a design by Heini Klopfer. The architect and ski jumper achieved a jump distance of 90 meters on the wooden structure. World records were set on this ski flying hill until the 1980s; the current hill record, at 242.5 meters (jumped by Slovenian Domen Prevc), is just under 10 meters below the current world record.
