On the outskirts of the small town of Brouwershaven stands the imposing Grote, or St. Nicolaas Church. Brouwershaven is a port founded in the 13th century, beautifully situated on the waters of the Grevelingen, a thriving water sports area in the province of Zeeland.
The oldest part of the church, the choir with its chapels and chapels, dates back to the 15th century. From the outside, the church immediately impresses with its grand dimensions. The spaciousness of the space upon entry is also remarkable. The interior is very light and spacious and still retains many authentic features. The church houses a beautiful organ. The organ case, dating from 1557, is decorated with beautiful, fully gilded Renaissance carvings. The acoustics of the church building are excellent.
