The Tapada Real de Vila Viçosa has a circumference of approximately 18 kilometers and was founded around 1515 by King Jaime, the 4th Duke of Braganza. This makes it one of the oldest hunting reserves in Portugal, a function it still holds today. Its interior contains an extensive architectural heritage, including three chapels, the palace, and several small houses. The surrounding wall has six gates. The Porta de São Bento is the main entrance and served the ducal palace. However, the area is not accessible.
