The tower owes its name to the arsonist Heinrich Diek, who was imprisoned alive in the cage as punishment in 1540.

It's an interesting photo opportunity and a must-see on any city tour.

The Diek Tower is part of the ramparts and served to protect the city of Einbeck in the Middle Ages.

The well-preserved Diek Tower, dating from the late 15th century, was built to reinforce Einbeck's fortifications in the Middle Ages and is located in the south of Einbeck.

This massive, round tower was named after Heinrich Diek, the son of a patrician from Einbeck. Diek allegedly caused the great city fire in Einbeck in 1540

and was executed for it.

In earlier times, the tower had a pointed conical roof. This roof has disappeared over the years. In the second half of the 18th century, a bathhouse was built in front of the tower.

you can check out the city tour program offered by the Einbeck Tourist Information Center. This includes, for example, the tour "Light Beer & Dark Shadows," where you can climb the Diek Tower and explore the city of Einbeck by night, led by a tour guide.
