      Welna has remained the area designation of the entire central sturgeon area for centuries. Welanao became Welna and Welna became waves. For many centuries, the forest heights west of Münsterdorf and east of federal highway 5 were called "Wellenberge" and are still called that today. The ancient Welanao has been renamed "Münsterdorf" since 1189.

      On January 1, 1956, the powerfully developing district - the Itzehoer had spoken of the "Kremper Weg" until then - the name Wellenkamp.
