While further upstream and downstream the road was squeezed into the narrow gorge, here the river is so tight and dangerous, that the road climbs high into the canyon side and drops back down into the gorge, allowing for rare views of the many switchbacks needed to scale the dramatic change in elevation and difficult terrain.
