Pizzo Formico dominates the Farno basin, above Gandino on the south side and the Clusone plateau on the north side. Very popular in winter by cross-country skiers, it offers, from its modest 1636 m., An exceptional panorama, from west to east, towards the Prealps and the Orobie Alps, while a thousand meters below the Val Seriana and Val Gandino extend industriously. This mountain can be climbed both from Gandino, through the gentle plains of the Farno basin and from Clusone, from the San Lucio Refuge, passing through woods, clearings and pastures dotted with farmhouses.

Not a very high peak, but still the highest in the entire area which winds in a horseshoe shape from Monte Pler to Formico.
It offers a beautiful view of the Orobie Alps and the underlying karst pasture basin of the Farno.
Easily reachable from anywhere both in summer and winter.
