In 1826, a stone church in the name of St. Cosmas and Damian with a bell tower was built in the village using donations from parishioners. It was a monument of religious architecture of the Classicism era.
Like many surrounding churches, the church in Janowiec fell victim to the anti-religious policy of the Soviet state. The church was closed in the late 1930s. Today, only picturesque ruins remain of the building.
