In 1775, the Polish state was divided and occupied by the Austrian and Russian empires. After the war, Sultan Abdülmecit opened the area where Polonezköy is today to the settlement of Polish immigrants.
The first settlers who came to Polonezköy began to live on these lands as a small "colony" with a small population. To give the colony an identity, it was given the name "Adampol", this name comes from the name of its founder Adam Jerzy Czartoryski. In this Polish village, formerly called "Adamköy" by the Turks, refugees were granted citizenship in 1894 and the village was named Polonezköy in 1923.
