The Moulin de la Sucrerie Blanche is an old mill located on the territory of the municipality of Chalon-sur-Saone in the French department of Saone-et-Loire and the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. Threatened with destruction in 2011, it has been listed as a historic monument since October 8, 2012 and becomes the Digital City in 2021, a center of advanced technology services dedicated to local businesses.
The Cité will bring together the teams and resources of Nicephore Cité, the Image Institute of Arts and Crafts Paris Tech and the Economic Development Mission of Grand Chalon. The objective is to pool resources and expertise to enable the implementation of innovation projects.
As part of "Nicephore Cité", a center of excellence dedicated to digital technologies in the city of Chalon-sur-Saone, the vast "NIDEV" rehabilitation program completes the commercial real estate offer in the new Saint Cosme. The approximately 6,200 m² of offices created on this former industrial wasteland are home to the "Nicephore Labs", a business incubator specialized in image and sound; the offices of KPMG and various City administrative and cultural services. Beside, the Sucrerie Rouge, emblem of the industrial inheritance Chalonnais, revives thanks to a sober architecture and modern equipments.
