It stands proudly, the red and white giant,
washed by the North Sea, salty and wild.
Its light cuts through the night breeze,
a beacon for sailors.

Up the stairs – step by step –
the wind whistles loudly, the view magnificent:
mudflats as far as the eye can see, like something out of a book,
and perhaps just a few boats on the horizon.

But down below, in the mud, it teems with life:
lugworms, mussels, and crabs.
The seagulls squawk here quite unashamedly,
while the lighthouse stoically weathers the storms.

A landmark, postcard-worthy,
always surrounded by photographers.

But when the tide comes in, high and mighty,
it is just one thing: surrounded by the sea.

Moral of the story:
If you travel to Eiderstedt, you have to come here –
because this tower is more than just a symbol.
It's a piece of the North Sea, harsh and clear,
and will still shine long after we're gone.

(And if you visit, don't forget to wave to the lighthouse keepers – they have the best view in the world!) 🚨🌊
