Birthplace of Franz Daniel Pastorius, the first German emigrant to America and founder of Germantown, Pennsylvania. From the courtyard of today's winery, you can get a good view of the historic part of the building. There, you'll find a stone tablet dating back to 1655, which refers to the Pastorius family. Several memorial plaques commemorate the pioneer. A highlight is the adjacent, modern wine shop, whose facade tells excerpts from the life of Franz Daniel Pastorius.
Unfortunately, we weren't there on Saturday, otherwise we could have taken a cellar tour to explore the old walls. However, we did manage to bring home a delicious, well-chilled Silvaner, in a Bocksbeutel, of course, for the ultimate Franconian wine hike afterwards, for which the super-nice owner even provided us with matching glasses.
