    Construction of the castle began in 1667 and it was ready for occupancy in 1673. For several long periods of time the castle was not used at all and was even in danger of falling into disrepair. From 1803 onwards the castle served as an administrative building. Since 1974 it has been the seat of the university administration.

          Great backdrop. Events take place in the castle courtyard at fairly regular intervals. (Concerts, open-air cinema, etc.) so that a detour is worthwhile. Apart from that it is nice and quiet and there is enough seating to spend the break in the sun.
